By integrating solid, old, quality pieces together with "lighter" things such as painted furniture, glass, or even mid-century materials like lucite, the offerings at Miss Elly's appeal to both purists as well as contemporary collectors.   Today the function of many old standbys has changed, with people using antiques in creative and decorative ways.  Examples include making use of sideboards as bars or television stands in family rooms or as storage in a hallway.

Antiques lend a sense of permanence and history to a home, and have the advantage of being repurposed and green.  A table made of wood from a tree harvested 200 years ago, for example, has survived ten generations and will probably carry on for another ten, offering lasting beauty, quality, and value.
